The Inner West’s Reverse Garbage is excited to announce they will now be offering a range of creative reuse workshops to the Northern Beaches and Mosman communities to be run onsite at Kimbriki Resource Recovery Centre.
“Our Northern Beaches and Mosman customers have been pleading for us to bring Reverse Garbage closer to them for years. We’re grateful Kimbriki has helped make this happen,” said Kirsten Junor, CEO, Reverse Garbage.
“We strongly believe education is the most effective way to evoke change in people’s behaviour, so we’re excited to make the most of this opportunity to expand our creative reuse education program.”
Kimbriki Resource Recovery Centre’s CEO, Peter Davis said “Reverse Garbage’s creative reuse community workshops fit well within Kimbriki’s recently repurposed onsite space, The Hub. The two organisations share the ethos of reducing waste to landfill by promoting reuse, repair and repurposing of used materials.”
Reverse Garbage workshops are focussed on prompting people to think differently, not only about their waste, but about what they consume in the first place.
As adults and children learn new skills creating their own masterpieces from unique reuse resources, they are also having conversations about reducing, reusing and recycling, and sustainable living in general.
Starting 23 July workshops will include:
- Proddy Rugs: upcycling worn tshirts or jumpers into rugs or wall hangings
- Leather stitching, lacing, plaiting for beginners
- Lino printing for beginners.

Reverse Garbage is a no-for-profit creative reuse centre based in Marrickville, in Sydney’s inner west. Started by teachers in 1975, they redirect commercial and industrial waste from landfill to a new life with educators, artists, upcyclers, DIY enthusiasts, tinkerers, set builders, window dressers, community organisations, festivals, charities, and more.
