An Excursion to Kimbriki entails:

School visits are offered to Primary and Senior School levels (Kindergarten to Year 12) and are hosted in Kimbriki’s Eco House and Garden.

  • Minimum of 15 students to host an excursion and up to 60 students at any one time.
  • Excursions are free of charge to schools within the Northern Beaches Council and Mosman Council areas.
  • For schools outside these council areas, a $25 fee per student applies (with a minimum charge of $375 incl GST).
  • A school visit includes a bus tour of the whole Kimbriki Resource Recovery site and an educational workshop in the Eco House and Garden.
  • Please allow 3 hours (including morning tea break) at Kimbriki Resource Recovery Centre (10am – 1pm).
  • Schools are responsible for arranging bus transport to and from Kimbriki and for the duration of the excursion. 
  • The Site Bus Tour enables students to see huge volumes of waste, recyclables, and recycled materials on a community scale as well as large trucks, loaders, and other machinery – all from the safety of the bus.
  • The Eco Workshop back at the Eco House and Garden is experiential, motivational and inspires confidence for staff and students to make positive changes back in their schools.

High School / Tertiary

These ecological principles are covered at a higher level with our High Schools/TAFE and universities students. They use the site and excursion opportunity to go in depth to examine waste management strategies and the effect of people’s actions on the environment and engaging society with sustainable development. The site offers many examples of environmental compliance and mitigation strategies supported by additional information on our website and our Resource Hive.

Process for booking a school excursion

  1. Fill in Enquiry form and select 3 preferred dates.
  2. Kimbriki will review your enquiry and liaise with you to secure a date.
  3. Kimbriki confirmation pack emailed to your organiser.
  4. Kimbriki Risk Assessment for Schools signed by school and returned to Kimbriki on confirmation.
  5. School organises bus for excursion and sends the bus company the Bus Driver Instructions.
