Our Site
When a customer enters Kimbriki via one of the entry weighbridges (A or B), the Kimbriki Weighbridge Attendant identifies the waste type(s) – this is done by inspecting the load at the entry weighbridge. The customer’s vehicle is weighed, and their number plate logged as entering the site. They can then be directed to the correct area for disposal. Depending on the nature of the waste or recyclable material, the process of handling and disposal from this point varies widely. Mixed waste (dry landfill) will be directed to our transfer area (5) before being processed for landfill.
Some free materials such as paper & cardboard, scrap metal, glass, aluminum, plastic containers, lead acid batteries, used motor oil, e-waste, and paint are aggregated and removed off site for recycling.
If the customer has several different products they may be directed to re-weigh at one of the weighbridges. This allows for tracking the amount of different waste delivered as well as correct charges for the different products. Once the customer has unloaded, they must exit via one of our outgoing weighbridges (C or D). This is to ensure firstly, that they have exited the site safely, and secondly to make their final payment, if one is required.
Goods recovered from the mixed waste transfer station are transferred to the Buy Back Centre and offered for sale.
Other materials are processed into re-use products, for example, bricks and concrete are crushed and screened into aggregates; timber is shredded and screened to make mulches, or for future chipboard.
Some wastes, due to their inherently risky nature, are securely buried on site. This includes asbestos, insulation and mixed waste.
