Welcome to the Outlook!
Sitting at the northwestern corner of the Discovery Trail is the “Outlook,” centrally located to observe the bustling operations of the Kimbriki Resource Recovery Centre.
Designed to offer a contrasting perspective to the tranquillity of the Eco Garden, the “Outlook” embodies the theme “My life’s a boat and I’m at the wheel.” This concept, embodied in Eco Stop 11, features a boat-shaped structure with a large recycled wooden wheel as its focal point. Visitors are encouraged to take control, set their course, and navigate their own future.
The helm symbolises the vital role in ensuring safe navigation towards an environmentally sustainable future, empowering individuals to control their destiny on a global scale.
Scattered around the “Outlook” are thought-provoking quotes urging visitors to contemplate the direction of their actions:
- If we don’t change our direction, we’re likely to end up where we’re headed.
- Which way are we headed?
- Which way are we steering our use of resources here on Earth?
- Peace, Sharing, Respect, Caring, Food for All
The “Outlook” offers a vantage point to witness the daily operations of Kimbriki, with over 1000 vehicles passing through the weighbridges each day, engaging in various tasks. It presents the stark reality of society’s waste dilemma, offering clarity and deeper understanding of recycling, reuse, and landfill processes.
Visual representations within the “Outlook” showcase the over 80% of products recycled at Kimbriki, promoting the 4R’s – RETHINK, REDUCE, RE-USE & RECYCLE.
