We have five new regular volunteers, enabling us to turn around our project work much faster.  We’re an eclectic bunch of members, and there are plenty of jobs to suit our variety of skills and expertise.

Last year, an obsolete workshop was cleared out. Thankfully, the contents were diverted to our workshop and away from the landfill, and we have stored them ready for a suitable project which we are now working on.

The children of tea plantation workers in remote areas of Sri Lanka will receive essential items made from some of this brightly coloured fabric, which will be shipped overseas in October by a local charity organisation, NETWORK HEAVEN.

  • We are making dresses, blouses, and skirts for the girls.  Each outfit will include a scrunchie or hairbow made from the smaller off-cuts, and they are a lovely addition for the children to wear and cherish.  Hopefully, they will feel the love we put into making these pretty items.
  • School bags and pencil cases have been sewn for school-aged children. Drawstrings will be added at a later date from recovered cords and strings we have been collecting for this project.
  • Network Heaven received a donation of plain white school blouses, to which we added some hand-stitched embellishments.
