Curl Curl Community Gardens, located on the corner of Griffin and Abbot Road in North Curly, was the perfect setting for Kimbriki’s 2 hour Composting 101 Workshop held in early May. Here, the Eco House and Garden educators, Abbey and Angie, presented a crash course in home composting to 13 Northern Beaches residents. The participants were engaged and got hands on, despite the threat of rain, the workshop went off without a hitch. During the first hour the residents were given a run-down of the uses and benefits of home compost, as well as a touch of the basic science behind the simple composting principles. The second hour saw the participants get hands on with the 10 compost bins that are in operation in the Garden. Participants were able to learn by doing and engaged in valuable, curated, one-on-one discussions with the educators and each other.

At the conclusion of the workshop, a lucky resident went home with a compost bin and another with a compost tool as a lucky door prize, while all residents were able to claim a $90 voucher from Council to be spent on composting products. Feedback from participants included “Presenters wonderful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable”, “these workshops are a fantastic resource for residents” and “fantastic info delivered at a perfect level”.

I reckon use these 2 photos below. But they can all be found in the photos folder where this document is located if you think others are better or you want the original file.
