Things are still ticking along nicely here at Peninsula Senior Toy Recyclers in our 50th year refurbishing many thousands of toys, games, dolls and bicycles, for reuse by the many numerous children’s charities we support, both here in Australia and overseas.

Donations have slowed down towards this time of year at both Kimbriki and Ingleside workshops which has allowed us to get on top of sorting, repairing and donating. We can finally see the back wall of the stock container at long last, with about 10 boxes still to be sorted this winter.

The Adra op shop from Morisset, now known as Hillview, have taken a big truckload and kindly donated $650 which was most appreciative to go towards some of our running costs. The container is well on its way to Ghana and they are already looking for more toys and soft toys for the children over there, so we plan to start getting more donation boxes ready.

If you have toys in good condition, don’t forget to recycled them and place in the Toy Shed at Household Problem Waste – drop off area 3 at Kimbriki. Your previously loved toys can find a new happy home!

We have been working with Anne from Network Heaven supplying educational toys to disadvantaged preschool children in an urban area of Colombo via the Lions Club Colombo.

Network Heaven is a Frenchs Forest based non-profit organisation who aim to help the poor. They believe in taking action with urgency to raise public awareness about some of the most pressing issues facing today’s society. Raising funds and promoting initiatives to serve the people who are in need the most.

This was another beautiful example of collaborations between Network Heaven, Peninsula Toy Recyclers and Willoughby Men’s Shed who also made blackboards for the children. In fact, 150 of them were made to order for 5 preschools in Sri Lanka.

We are always looking for more recipients. If anyone would like to reach out to us, please contact Terry Cook @ cookt308@gmail.com
