Our last sewing bee for 2025 was Saturday 29th November and first for 2026 will be Saturday 3rd January 2026.  Saturday meetings will remain fortnightly.

From 3rd February 2026 there will be sewing bees every Tuesday from 11am – 3pm.  This will be run by our sister group from Avalon who are joining us at The Hub in 2026. This is a momentous event as Avalon were the first and are the longest running Boomerang Bags group in Sydney.  We will combine our resources and skills and maintain focus on sustainability and #sewingforpurpose2026.

2025 HAS BEEN A BUSY AND REWARDING YEAR!

We collected >350kg of donated textiles and sewing equipment at the Northern Beaches Council Reuse and Recycling Event in September. Diverting these resources from landfill is the main objective of Boomerang Bags groups and from these recovered textiles we are able to make the items that support our community groups:

  • STEWART HOUSE
  • SYDNEY WILDLIFE RESCUE
  • WHEELER HEIGHTS PUBLIC SCHOOL
  • BEAR COTTAGE
  • NETWORK HEAVEN

Network Heaven shared our resources when we donated approximately 50kg of cotton textiles for their 2026 projects

We have regularly volunteered at The Fixery events, operated by The Sydney Library of Things, held at Cromer Community Centre and generously supported by Northern Beaches Council.

We welcome anyone interested in sustainability and sewing to join us at our regular meetings here at The Hub!
