Better Homes & Gardens and the program’s presenter recently ran a fantastic feature on the Peninsula Senior Citizens Toy Repair Group, showcasing the incredible work of the organised volunteer team. Filming took place on Friday 10th November and the segment aired on Friday 31st October at 7pm on Channel 7 and 7TWO. The feature offered an informative look into Kimbriki and the HUB, highlighting the toy recycling and repair work carried out by the group, along with key moments from their 50-year history as they celebrated their milestone birthday in November 2025.

As part of the 2025 National Recycling Week, the Peninsula Seniors Toy Repair Group marked 50 years of saving toys from landfill. On Saturday 15th November, the HUB at Kimbriki hosted a Toy Drop-Off Day, inviting the community to donate pre-loved toys in good condition for reuse and rehoming.

The doors opened to the public at 8.30am, allowing visitors to tour the Toy Workshop, meet the volunteer repairers and visit our neighbours, Boomerang Bags Northern Beaches – Kimbriki. Guests enjoyed seeing the impressive range of toys on display bringing back many memories., Seeing items made from reclaimed fabrics, taking part in hands-on workshops and learning basic repair and sewing techniques. The day was a tremendous success, with more than 120 vehicles arriving loaded with toys, perfect timing in the lead-up to Christmas.

We were delighted to receive support and visits from Dr Sophie Scamps MP, Mayor Sue Heins, Michael Regan MP, Jacqui Scruby MP, Emma Mackay from Northern Beaches Council and Michael from Pittwater Online.

The Toy Repair Group has also received Notice to Relocate from their long-standing premises at Ingleside, as the land has been resold to a local school. They will be moving permanently to the HUB at Kimbriki in January 2026. This move provides an opportunity to establish a more permanent and secure home for the group. From February, the Toy Repair Group will operate at the HUB every Monday to Thursday from 9am to 12.30pm.

To celebrate the festive season, the 2026 Senior School Prefects from Pittwater House helped set up the school’s Christmas trees. Their annual Christmas Appeal this year supported families and vulnerable young people by donating toys to the Peninsula Seniors Toy Recyclers.

A huge thank you to the teachers, students and families of Pittwater House for their incredible generosity at their 2025 Toy Drive. On Wednesday 9th December, two teachers and four students visited the Toy Workshop at the HUB Kimbriki, delivering two 14-seater busloads of donated toys to help support local families.
