The huge difference a bike can make!

At Bikes4Life, it is our mission to collect, restore and provide bicycles to the most marginalised and impoverished communities in the world.

One bicycle can support social rehabilitation and economic change. In remote societies a bicycle is not only a means of transport to places of employment and education but can provide many with the access to remote sources of food and water, medicine and shelter.

If you have an unused bike in good working condition that you would like to donate or would like to get involved, we would love to hear from you. We are always looking for new volunteers, no mechanical experience needed!

Weekly Workshops – Every Wednesday 2 – 4pm at The HUB Kimbriki

Our warehouse manager, Clive Hughes, runs weekly workshops.  Each Wednesday from 2-4pm we sort through donated bikes and conduct repairs to prepare our bikes for their new homes. We are currently providing bikes to local community groups, refugees and are supporting adhoc requests for those in need.  If you have any questions about are workshops, please email Clive.

Bikes4Life is a 100% volunteer run charity that refurbishes bicycles that would otherwise end up as landfill, and donate these bikes to various organisations in Australia and overseas. These bikes have been gifted to Ukrainian refugees, Disability Services Australia and remote and aboriginal communities in Australia. Since Bikes4Life was founded in Victoria, they have supplied bikes to various countries in Africa (Uganda, Tanzania and Malawi), Pacific (Fiji and Nauru), and Asia (Pakistan, Thailand and Cambodia).

Clive Hughes from Bikes4Life said “We welcome volunteers to join us on Wednesday’s between 2pm – 4pm (no experience required). Used bicycles can be dropped off to our workshop at any time, and we only ask that the bicycles be in good working condition. We are always keen to establish new partnerships with charities, that are seeking refurbished bikes. We would also like to thank Kimbriki who have been an invaluable partner since 2018, and would welcome any monetary donations, or sponsorships that help raise money for tools and the expensive cost of freighting refurbished bicycles overseas.”

Kimbriki’s General Manager – Operations, Mark Winser said the partnership complemented workshops and educational programs held on-site, including the Eco House and Garden.

“Our site is all about recovering and recycling waste, and Bikes4Life fits in with our mantra — rethink, reduce, reuse and recycle,” he said.

“We also really love their ethos of supporting emerging and third-world countries.”
