1st March 2024
On the 15th of February 2024 the NSW Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) visited Kimbriki Resource Recovery Centre and took away samples of material from products in the organics processing area.
Today, 1st March 2024, the EPA notified Kimbriki Environmental Enterprises Pty Ltd (KEE) as license holders that a single fragment of cement sheeting (10mm x 6mm x 2mm) containing bonded asbestos was found in one sample. All other samples were asbestos free.
In conjunction with advice from the EPA, we have quarantined the affected stockpile and are awaiting further advice from the EPA as to how to proceed. As we have only recently been notified of this finding, details are still coming to light and KEE will continue to work with the EPA and our contractor to resolve this incident and ensure no further occurrences.
There is no impact to services, either at the vegetation processing area or across the Kimbriki site more broadly.
