Please note: In 2020 Kimbriki partnered with local company Greenwall to trial Polystyrene recycling. Greenwall have been taking an agreed amount of polystyrene waste and incorporating it as growth media into the production of vertical greenwalls and greenroofs. However, due to operational changes, Greenwall are currently unable to take the agreed trial amounts from Kimbriki. As a result, we have decided to suspend the trial, until Greenwall are once again able to take the Polystyrene materials for recycling. Please note: Until the trial resumes, all polystyrene materials dropped at Kimbriki will be charged as mixed waste and will be sent to Landfill. https://kimbriki.com.au/prices/#mixed-waste

Vegetation and wood waste recyclingAustralian Native Landscapes (ANL) operates the vegetation and wood waste recycling area at Kimbriki. The operation receives approximately 100,000 tonnes of vegetation and wood waste per annum from Council collections, self-haul residents and commercial customers.
Once received the material is shredded and stockpiled for up to 6 months before it is screened and used to produce a variety of woodchip mulch and soils. Kimbriki’s proud history of very low contamination supports the quality of these mulches and soils which can be purchased on site alongside other horticultural products.
Since establishment in 1992 the vegetation recycling operation at Kimbriki has diverted over 1 million tonnes from landfill.
vegetation, wood waste recycling
Vegetation residentialAll households in the Northern Beaches Council or Mosman Council are provided with dedicated vegetation bins collected by Council. The vegetation drop-off at Kimbriki provides residents with an occasional disposal option for vegetation less than 300kgs. This includes garden waste like leaves, branches less than 75mm thick, dead flowers, grass cuttings and other vegetation that can be mulched. No tree stumps, logs, trunks or soil.

Vehicles are entitled to one vegetation drop-off on any given day. If your load is over 300kg you must pay the full amount not just the portion you are over. We understand you don't weigh your vegetation when loading so some leeway will be given for loads close to 300kg. The NSW EPA requires that all waste entering Kimbriki must be accurately accounted for. Dividing weighbridge transactions once completed adds complexity, time and cost and consequently is prohibitive and cannot be accommodated.

Proof of residency is required such as a valid parking permit, drivers licence showing a valid address in the Council area, or a Council rates notice. Drop-offs are for cars, station wagons, utes, family vans or trailers.

No trucks or other vehicles of any kind are allowed, trade vehicles are also excluded however arrangements can be put in place to register a trade vehicle for a resident's own occasional use.

VENMAccepted as Mixed Waste: VENM

Conditions Apply:
A NSW EPA VENM Certificate must accompany all loads of VENM - see link below.

Under the NSW Environment Protection Authority (NSW EPA) Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act), Virgin Excavated Natural Material (VENM) is defined as:
natural material (such as clay, gravel, sand, soil or rock fines):

(a) that has been excavated or quarried from areas that are not contaminated with manufactured chemicals, or with process residues, as a result of industrial, commercial, mining or agricultural activities, and

(b) that does not contain any sulfidic ores or soils or any other waste

and includes excavated natural material that meets such criteria for virgin excavated natural material as may be approved for the time being pursuant to an EPA Gazettal notice.

The receipt of VENM at Kimbriki is subject to guidelines and a directive defined by the NSW EPA:
Generators of VENM are required to provide information about the origin and specification of the material through a certification document. All loads of VENM being delivered for disposal at Kimbriki must have the NSW EPA certificate submitted prior to disposal. As a compliant and environmentally responsible site, Kimbriki will not accept loads of VENM without this certificate.

All loads are subject to inspection by Kimbriki staff. VENM must not contain any contaminants such as grass, concrete, bricks, broken pipes, building materials, or any other foreign matter. If contaminants are found, mixed waste rates will apply.
